5 Years!

Last weekend (Labor Day weekend) Jason and I celebrated 5 years of marriage. Our official anniversary isn't until the 27th, but that is only 11 days before my due date, so we decided to bump up the celebration. We went to Des Moines and enjoyed every second of it...well, almost. I started getting a sore throat on Sunday night, which proceeded to turn into one of the worst colds imaginable. We enjoyed just hanging out in our 'suite', which was a great find. We stayed at a Chase Suite...they are set up like a condo, its hard to explain, but the layout was great. We had an outside entrance, so no crazy people yelling and running in the halls. Our room included a full kitchen stocked with a stove, dishwasher, fridge, and even dishes. Jason said he had never stayed in hotel room with a ladel in it...neither had I. We enjoyed watching saturday college football on a plasma tv, along with the cable tv in general. On Sunday we went to Living History Farms, it is place you can go where they have villages/towns set up like different eras of Iowa history. We walked quite a bit, but enjoyed the great weather Sunday brought. We got to see what life would've been like in the 1850s as well as a log cabin, an indian village and a traditional Iowa farm. It was neat to see the employees work. We were at one of the houses near lunch time and they were cooking lunch in dutch ovens!
Speaking of food, we did our fair share of eating as well, which would explain my massive weight gain over the past two weeks! (that and the fact that I'm making a baby) We enjoyed our annual visit to the Cheesecake Factory, as well as a few other dining splurges. Although our weekend was fairly uneventful, we had a blast just hanging out together.
It is hard to believe that we have been married 5 years. Some days it feels like just yesterday, and others I truly feel like Jason has been a part of my life forever.

In baby news, I am continuing to expand in the abdominal area. I had 4 different co-workers ask me in one night if they needed to take me to labor and delivery...I must've looked really rough that night. With 5 weeks left, I must admit that it gets harder and harder every day to carry out the easiest task. Jason has been very patient with me and has learned to make me stop even when I don't want to slow down. My emotions continue to ride the rollercoaster, and I have used my fair share of "I'm crying because I'm pregnant, okay?". Overall though, things are going pretty smooth. I am fairly certain that the baby has dropped, at least to some extent. I won't go into detail why I think that, but just trust me...its different. My feet have begun to swell a little, so I bought compression stockings for work. Seeing a 8 month pregnant woman put those suckers on is a sight to see! Lets just say there's a lot of huffing and puffing and praying I don't fall over in the process...but they have proven to be beneficial.
We had another ultrasound a couple of weeks ago to check the location of the placenta...it had been low lying on the previous exam. We are excited to say that it has since moved up! While they were scanning we got to see a little more of baby Blackley...but not the more everyone was hoping for. We looked away again and will continue to wait to find out the sex. However, we did get to see chubby cheeks...surprise, surprise!

Keep checking back...you never know when this little one is going to decide to make its entrance. In the past week I have begun to feel like I might go early, keep in mind I have no idea what I am talking about...its just a hunch, and maybe a hope.
We aren't very good at pictures right now, but trust me, once little blackley comes, I'm sure we will get much better!

Congratulations on the 5 year mark! Sounds like a fun "last" getaway!! Glad to hear you are making the most of every moment before your world gets turned upside down! Praying for rest and comfort for you these last days that are always the hardest and longest! Praise God for the change of the placenta's position...nothing is too hard for Him!
Miss you and anxiously await any news and those promised pictures!!
