S-to-the-O-to-the-LID, N-to-the-O-to-the-NAP FOR ME!
I decided to start solids with Micah, his 6 month 'birthday' is tomorrow, so I figure, close enough. He has been acting hungry between feedings and besides, I was just excited to start. Yesterday I attempted to feed him some homemade rice cereal...that was a joke, but at least I got a good laugh out of it. My mom had given me a ton of brown rice, and since I am terrible at cooking rice I cooked about 3 times as much as I needed for a recipe about a month ago. I decided to get out my Super Baby Food book, which is amazing, and make the rice into baby food for Micah and freeze it. So, yesterday I thawed out a cube of it...the first cube I thawed for 1 minute and made it expode in the microwave...oops! (and gross!) The second was still too thick, so I tried to thin it with some more water, but it wouldn't mix well with the water, so basically we had pureed brown rice with water floating on top. I still attemped to feed it to him, but finally gave up. I am saving the homemade rice cereal, I think we can still use it when he is ready for thicker foods...until then, I am buying the store stuff. Below are some pictures of today's official 'first' feeding!
Here is Micah familiarizing himself with the sippy cup. There wasn't a whole lot of 'sipping' going on. He's probably still scarred from the bottle!
"Here Mom! I'm done with this thing."
Here is a close up of the crusted rice cereal on his lip. It went something like this, spoon the food into his mouth, spoon the food now mixed with spit off of his chin. I'm not sure he actually got much into his tummy!
Before we started...his bib is actually clean!
Now, onto the N-to-the-O-to-the-NAP for me! Micah has been fighting his naps the past few days, and its driving mama crazy! I think its because I've been alone for a couple of days and so I have no one to share my frustration with. Jason is back now, so maybe I'll stop stewing. This is a picure of Micah at 10am, after crying off and on for 2 hours! Don't worry, we didn't leave him in there alone for 2 hours. The story goes, he get up at 6:20 and I nurse him to sleep around 8:30. He's asleep when I lay him down, but awake only minutes after I leave his room. Leave him in there for a while, then Jason went in and he fell back asleep, same story, awake only a few minutes later. I could go on, but you probably don't care about the details. You are probably more concerned with what kind of mother I am that I would dress my child in camo bottoms and a tie-dyed top. While taking this picture I was hoping to capture a whiney, mad baby so that all of you could see he's not totally perfect...instead he just smiled. Maybe he is perfect, or just happy to see another human after an hour by himself. ;)

Oh, you are cracking me up! I promise this nap stuff will work its way out! Just remember you are the parent and you make the decisions and then you stick to them until you WIN!! Consistently consistent is the key! Okay, really the key is getting them old enough to understand bribery!! So fun to see what big boy things Micah is up to! He is getting so big and handsome! Once you get a picture into your post, and decide you don't want it, you can left click on it and hit the delete button, or right click and "cut" it out. I have more trouble accidentally deleting picture I did want than having extra pictures I didn't want!! We are all challenged in some way!! Still praying for your unknown request!
HA! Hilarious - and I was totally waiting for some kind of comment on his tie-dye shirt and cammo pants - awesome! If you want sometime, in person, I can give you some tips on how to thaw those frozen cubes. :) Much love to you.
