Saturday we put up our first Christmas tree as a family of three. Our apartment was significantly smaller than our home, so last year we opted to keep the swing in our living room instead of getting a Christmas tree.
We went to Lowe's (which I highly recommend) to pick out and purchase our tree! They trim up the branches on the bottom and bag it up for slick transport...plus their prices were the best in town!
Micah loved the lights. He is helping me put an ornament on the tree in these pictures. I don't think he had any clue what we were doing, but he still enjoyed it. The ornament is a special one to me as well. My grandparents passed away when I was 18 and 22, a few years ago my aunt made each of the grandkids heart shaped ornaments out out of their old clothing, overalls for my grandpa and a wool sweater for my grandma. I LOVE these ornaments...and now I get to share them with my children!
No, we didn't plan the color scheme!
Saturday afternoon was much more enjoyable than Saturday morning, to say the least.
Micah is getting really good at walking, in fact today I saw him crawl twice, the rest of the time he was walking. BUT sometimes with learning new things comes new scars, and our son is no exception!
I had just lay down for a quick snooze Sat. a.m. and I heard Micah cry. I tried to drown it out and convince myself that I didn't have to run every time he made a peep, that Jason was clearly capable and that Micah doesn't benefit from always having his mommy. A few seconds later Jason opened the door and was holding Micah. He had fallen and hit his head on a wooden arm chair. INSTANTLY he had a huge goose egg with a scrape down the middle. The bump just got bigger and bigger. I tried to put ice on it, and that went over like a lead balloon!
No major harm was done, but it sure did scare Jason and me (in fact, Jason almost passed out, literally!). The thing that scared us the most was that he barely cried. I had to put aside my freak-out mommy self and pull out my rational, emotionally removed health care self...oh, and call my sister for a second opinion before realizing that he was okay. Easier said than done!
Unfortunately I didn't get many good shots of it. For some reason that wasn't my initial thought.
The swelling has gone way down, but in a way it looks worse now because the bruise is really starting to come out!
Oh, the joys of having a boy, right?!?
Moving on to a much happier, safer, less scaring first.
Micah's hair has been getting a little, well, overgrown. I mean it was super cute and all, but the bed head and the mullet were just a little too much. Friday we strapped him down...just kidding, as you'll see in the pics, and gave him a little trim. Unfortunately I uploaded the pics backwards, so the after pic is before the before. Make sense ;)
I used kiddie, blunt scissors just in case he jerked, but he did awesome! What a sweet little picture! And look how much more he looks like a boy!
Before: I loved how the little locks curled under, but I also love the new do!
Let's hope this week doesn't bring as many dramatic firsts...especially ones that make us cry or want to pass out!

He is so handsome!! Love the new haircut!
I'm so thankful he didn't have to get stitches - that was no fun - the putting in or the taking out! Boys keep you on your toes, that's for sure - makes life exciting I guess!! Love it.
Fun stuff, and yes, probably just the beginning of the many bumps, scrapes, and bruises headed your way!
