Man, looking through all of those pictures was so much fun. Seriously, it reminded me why
I wanted to have this blog. I'm sure some day I'll look back and kick myself for not being more
diligent with saving the first lost tooth or lock of hair. My poor children, they don't even have baby books.
I don't know when Micah walked first, he's walking now...that's all that matters, right?!?!
This blog is my sad attempt at keeping track, so that one day when I'm old and can't remember
where my dentures are, hopefully I can use this as a tool to help jog my memory and retain
what small thread I have hanging at that point.
This is sideways, and probably deserves a post of it's own, but the pictures are on Jason's phone, so this will do...just in case I never get around to uploading the pictures and making a separate post. Our little 'dude' turned 3 this week. Seriously, how is that possible?!? That sounds SO cliche, but it's true. He is becoming
such a little boy. All but potty trained...I said potty people, don't be deceived. He has yet to poop in the
toilet. I've even stooped so far as to offer him Skittles if he were to go #2! Until then he brings me a diaper and tells me when he needs to go. I'll take that over cleaning poop out of undies, or cowboy boots. Not that I've EVER cleaned poop out of cowboy boots!
We had a VERY small party for Jude. Just 3 little friends from our faith family. We had it on his birthday, which was during the week. It worked out perfect, it was low key, the kids mostly just played and ate cake and Jason was able to still work half of the day. He, obviously, had a 'ball' theme. I mean, it's Jude. If he's not destroying something, he's throwing it. A friend brought cupcakes with this AMAZING peanut butter frosting on top to playgroup, so I asked her for the recipe. I made a Texas Sheet Cake after realizing I had already packed up our round cake pans. My original plan was to copy a 'Pinterest' idea and make a basketball cake, but I think plan B turned out just fine for a 3 year old.
I took this picture at my parents house after Eli had fought his nap for QUITE some time. We are
learning that he is quite the social bug. He really won't nap anywhere but his crib, so I treasured every last minute of this 45 minute nap. I have learned there are 2 perks to kids like this, he stays happy-even if he's WAY past needing sleep, and I don't have to worry about him falling asleep on the 4 minute drive home from Wal-Mart at 10:30, unlike his brothers!
This picture is SUPER old, as is the next. I love this picture though. My sister sent this to me when Jason and I were gone from the boys overnight. It's Jude and my brother-in-law, Jared. I just love it.
Ah, the Iowa Homecoming Parade. We attended our first parade the year after Jude was born. See the, yes, sideways picture below of Micah and Jason from our first year. This picture, however, was taken 1 1/2 years ago....so Micah was 3 and Jude was 18 mos.
We LOVE this parade. We go early, call in a Palagia's pizza on the way. We pick up the pizza and walk to 'our spot'. It's toward the end of the route, but it's still SO much fun! I'm not all into the Iowa Hawkeyes scene, but this parade is so different. Next year should be interesting with 3 boys to keep track of ;)
Man Eli and Micah look alike. It's pictures like this where I really see it. Sorry it's sideways, I'm at the
end of my day and feeling really lazy.
Baby feet. They'll never get old or lose their luster. This summer we practically lived at the
'round park'. Don't ask me WHY our boys dubbed it the 'round park', but they did-just like how they call
rescue bots 'Meanwave' and 'Older'. Meanwave is a name they made up, but insist exists, and Older is really Boulder. Sigh.
Back to the park...I took this picture at Kent State Park. They have a great playground for BOYS!!!
I would take them there early in the morning before it got too hot and let Eli take his naps in the Moby Wrap. It was the only place I felt 'safe' going by myself with 3 boys under 4 years for the first few weeks of Eli's life. It will hold very sweet memories in my mind for that very reason.
Eli passed out after a marathon day of Graduation parties at only 9 days old. Ministry life at it's finest.
This is out of order, but it's the other picture I took at Kent State Park. He was SO little! If it weren't for the pit in my stomach that I feel when I think about how tired I was I would almost want to go back to that stage. Nah, I'll just savor this picture and cuddle him now.
Eli, we love your cheeks, then and now.
Can you tell I've scoped out all of the 'cool parks'? I don't know if it was okay for them to climb in the creek, as right behind Jude is the pond in this picture, but last year was SO dry that I didn't see any harm in letting them explore. As if I could've stopped them anyway.
Seriously, this picture captures my life. These two can get just about anything done if they set their minds to it. Tonight we caught Jude hanging halfway out of their bedroom window. Apparently there was a small tear in the screen of their window and they had ripped it open. Micah was 'helping' him. They claim they were telling 'friends' to come inside and play. Mmm-hmmm.
Love him!
Oh man, this picture DEFINITELY deserves a post of it's own, but it's not going to get one.
Every year Jason goes to Indiana for further training in his Biblical Counseling. He is gone ALL week. I'm not complaining, don't get me wrong. I have plenty of friends whose husbands travel all the time. I don't know how they do it. That being said, this week was very long and very tiring. We spent one whole day and night at my parent's farm. We left in the afternoon so the boys could take naps on the way home. As we pulled in the driveway and the boys woke up I had a moment of 'we need to go to the park' insanity. So, instead of trying to haul all 3 sleepy, cranky boys into the house and commence 'damage control' I decided to unload all of our stuff and headed to the park. The boys were pumped. No more than 5 minutes after getting there, Jude WIPED OUT. It was Epic. And, of course, I chose to take a picture before helping him. I mean, I HAD to. No one would've believed me that when I unzipped his coat I found mud up to his chest. Yup, that's mud on his teeth too! The worst part, you ask?!? I had literally unloaded EVERYTHING out of the car...diaper bag and all. So, I had to strip him down to his diaper...in FEBRUARY...and strap him into his car seat. Oh the screaming. I still have ringing in my left ear!
Have you picked up on a theme yet? Jude and I kind of clash. Part of it is different personalities and the age he's at. Part of it is he just LOVES Jason. Literally, he will open the door after he wakes up from napping and if Jason isn't there, he'll shut it and scream for up to 20 minutes. It's amazing.
We've been trying to do more 'dates' with the two older boys, and it's been really good for all of us.
Jude and I went on a date. He had SO much fun walking around Scheel's. And, of course, had to try on EVERY helmet imaginable.
An oldie, but still a favorite. I am one blessed woman!
It appears that their 'just how much damage can we do?' mentality started at a very young age.
And it also appears that Micah perfected the bossing around of Jude at a young age as well.
I hope you've enjoyed this trip down memory lane just as much as I have!
