*This post was brought on by a morning with a very dear friend, with whom I could share many many cups of coffee with before growing tired or bored. Our conversation was rich, but VERY interrupted by our children. This was how I felt after she left.
Someday...
Someday I'll go to the bathroom without someone pulling themselves up by my pant leg or having a toddler asking me what 'is that?' while pointing at my underwear.
Someday I'll finish a cup of coffee before it gets cold.
Someday I'll have a clean house.
Someday the laundry will be all caught up.
Someday I won't wonder if silence means 'trouble' or just indicates an occupied toddler.
Someday I will finish a conversation with my husband...or a dear friend.
Someday I will go into public without checking to see if there is snot wiped all over my black shirt.
Someday I will sleep in.
Someday the freezer won't be filled with ice packs, breast milk, and teething rings.
Someday there will be time to put on make-up and do my hair....don't be fooled that I'll actually take the time though ;)
Someday I won't have to wipe snotty noses, quite covertly and quickly.
Someday food will stay on the table and not end up on the floor.
Until then...
I will welcome this sweet boy into my arms and let him slobber all over me as he uses my body as a human jungle gym.
I will tickle him until he laughs that laugh that reaches to the core of every human spirit. The laugh that cures any bad mood, any sadness and that can't be bought at any price!
I will cherish this boy, quirks and all. Nurturing his sensitive spirit, yet encouraging him to be strong and to be who God has made him to be.
I will smile at the cobwebs, crushed cheerios, dirty clothes, and toys that have missing parts.
I will forever hold these years of 'small-ones' in my heart as great times.
Until then...
I will live in this moment!
